Marshmallow Challenge – Thinking Outside the Box
One of the most striking moments of our session was the Marshmallow Challenge. This well-known innovation exercise demonstrates how different groups – from kindergarten children to CEOs – approach problem-solving. The challenge involves building the tallest possible tower using spaghetti, tape, and a marshmallow. The results are often surprising: while adults spend most of their time planning and only test at the end, children iterate continuously and often achieve better outcomes.
For us as lawyers, this is a valuable lesson: innovation does not happen at the drawing board but through experimenting and adapting. This mindset can help us not only understand new technologies but also integrate them effectively into our practice.
